Eversince David Kirke performed the first modern bungee jump way back in 1979, this activity became a part of many people’s bucket lists. Whether you want to try it to get rid of your fear of heights, to prove your braveness or you want to do it to mark a new chapter in your life – bungee jumping is something you just have to experience!

And let’s not forget one of the best advantages of bungee jumping – after doing it you can brag all you want because it really is something to be proud of!

What is Bungee Jumping?

Bungee jumping is an activity in which a person simply jumps from a very high point. It can be a bridge, a platform or a hill. The jumper is held by a tall elastic cord which ensures his safety, and the whole point is to simply jump down and feel the rush of adrenaline that comes with head-first jump to the ground.

Many people describe the feeling as liberating and exciting and although it’s considered to be extremely dangerous, the reality is that it’s actually safe.
Of course, it’s not for everybody and individuals that are planning to bungee jump should check the following physical elements to make sure the jump is safe for them:

· Blood pressure
· Heart rate
· Back, leg, breathing or circulatory disorders
· Head injuries

Of course, the company that provides bungee jumping will tell you all this when you get to the spot and make sure everything’s in order before you do the leap of faith.

Bungee Jumping equipment

The equipment that’s used in bungee jumping seems a bit basic, but when properly used it’s a real safety gem and will ensure you have a great, danger-free experience.

The equipment consists of:

· Bungee cord – the cord that connects the jumper to the tie-off
· Harness – secures the bungee cord to the jumper’s body
· Tie-Off – A stable structure (safety fence or steel railings of a bridge) that anchors the bungee cord
· Airbags – Often placed at the bottom of the jump space to provide additional safety in the event of a fall

There are two types of harnesses which are both used in a jump. The first harness is attached to the jumper’s legs and the other is attached to the jumper’s body which makes it so much more comfortable and much safer.

Bungee cords are made from multiple strands of rubber that are woven tightly together and they can be of different sizes and different strengths. Sometimes a jumper will be tied with a single cord and sometimes with multiple cords, all depending on the type of cords that are used. They are used to connect the harnesses on the jumper with the tie-off.

With that, you should wear comfortable and airy clothes and a pair of good shoes to feel comfortable and light while in the air.
